Accessing the Document Library Settings To add a new ContentType to the Document Library, first navigate to the library. Then, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page and select "settings". Creating a New ContentType In the Library Settings page, under the "Content Types" section, click on "Add from existing site content types". If the desired content type doesn't exist, you'll need to create it first. Click on the "Site Content Types" link under the "Content Types" section. On the Site Content Types page, click the "Create" button to create a new content type. Fill in the following fields: Name Enter a name for your new content type. Description Provide a brief description of the content type's purpose. Parent Content Type Choose "Document" as the parent content type. Group Select the group in which your content type will be categorized. Click the "OK" button to create the new content type. Adding Columns to the ContentType After creating the content type, you will be redirected to its settings page. In the "Columns" section, click on "Add from existing site columns" to reuse existing columns or "Add from new site column" to create a new column specifically for this content type. If creating a new column, fill in the required fields such as column name, type, and any additional settings. Click "OK" to add the column to the content type. Adding the New ContentType to the "Documents" Library Go back to the "Documents" Library Settings page. Under the "Content Types" section, click on "Add from existing site content types". Find your newly created content type in the list, select it, and click the "Add" button. Click "OK" to apply the changes. Now, when uploading or creating new documents in the "Documents" library, users will have the option to select the newly added content type, and the associated metadata fields will be available for them to fill in.
